The Para Transpo Problem

Para Transpo trips must be booked at least one day in advance and the booking phone line opens at 6 AM. Popular times fill up quickly. For same-day or last-minute trips — a spontaneous appointment, a change in condition, a social event — Para Transpo often can't help.

Option 1: Yesican.app

Yesican.app is the newest and most flexible option for Ottawa residents with mobility needs. Book wheelchair-accessible van rides, ambulettes, or adapted sedans on-demand or in advance — no registration, no eligibility assessment, no phone tree. ODSP transportation benefits accepted. Bilingual (English/French) service across the National Capital Region including Gatineau.

Option 2: Conval-Aid

Conval-Aid has operated in Ottawa for decades and specialises in non-emergency medical transport and wheelchair-accessible rides. They're reliable but typically require advance booking and serve primarily medical trip purposes.

Option 3: ChairCarriers

ChairCarriers is a well-known Ottawa accessible taxi company. They operate a fleet of wheelchair-accessible vehicles and can be booked by phone. Good for shorter trips and point-to-point airport runs.

Option 4: OC Transpo Accessible Bus Network

Many OC Transpo bus routes and all O-Train stations are accessible. The O-Train Confederation Line stations all have elevators. For those who can use conventional transit with accessibility features, this remains the most cost-effective option.
